The truth of God brings mental health, spiritual health and physical health. We can walk in peace. We can overcome the traumas of life.

Welcome to Yesterday Ended Healing the Traumas of Life. Walking in the world today can be challenging. The world is full of darkness and fear. We need someone to comfort us and guide us. I'm your host, Dennis Daupin, and I'm here to teach you about walking in the anointing. Give a listen. In that time, I drove around 200,000 miles for work. That's averaging over 16,500 miles a year. And I have to say I'm very happy that I had a phone with GPS for a good portion of that time. In the old days, I used to have to print out a map. But even with the advent of a GPS phone, there was a time when, because of too much use of data download, my phone provider would slow down my data consumption. One day, when I was desperately needing the GPS to guide me home, I was in this residential area where all the streets looked the same. When I tried to acquire my position via GPS, all I saw was the grid of streets, but no names. If it hadn't been for the fact that I remembered the shape of the main street that led out of the neighborhood, I might still be there. I needed a guide. I was afraid of being hopelessly lost and needed to be comforted. I needed the global positioning system to get me home. As I was considering which direction to go with this podcast a few moments ago, I wasn't sure what to do. So I stopped for a moment to get peaceful and received guidance from the Holy Spirit, the anointing. So I guess in that moment I was practicing what I'm about to preach. I took advantage of the anointing of the Holy Spirit to show me which way to go. Jesus Christ taught his disciples that after his death and resurrection, the Father would send a comforter to them. That comforter would be their guide and teacher. On the day of Pentecost, Jesus Christ shed forth the Holy Spirit. So now we have God's positioning system. And the Holy Spirit does more than just direct our steps. By way of God's Spirit within us, we have that promised guide and teacher and comforter that we so desperately needed. And if you don't think you desperately need the Holy Spirit in your life, think again. As we humble ourselves before God and before our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, we will open the door for receiving the blessings promised regarding the Holy Spirit. What we must do is become mindful and active in walking in the anointing. In you abides a promised friend, a comforter, a teacher, a guide, to stand by your side and give you knowledge applied, the way to go to provide. The anointing on you now rest, the promise of the Father now revealed. By his Spirit you are sealed, empowered now the Spirit's sword to wield, in meekness to the Spirit you must yield. Never alone in darkness to walk, God's still small voice in your heart, each day your path to chart, power from the world to depart, power in the world to impart. According to scholars, there is somewhere between eight hundred to eight hundred and fifty years between the writing of the book of Joel and the day of Pentecost. In the book of Joel is the original promise of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Joel chapter two verses twenty eight and twenty nine. And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions, and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. This must have been somewhat of a radical idea to the common Israelite upon hearing this promise of God. Until the fulfillment of this on the day of Pentecost, the Spirit of God was only upon the prophets and the high priest and the king and a few other select individuals, and it was always conditional. Very few people had access to the wisdom and power and personal presence of God's Spirit. Jesus spoke about this promise right before he ascended in Acts chapter one verses four and five. And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Jesus makes a reference to the promise of the Father. He is speaking of Joel chapter two. He declares to the apostles that they would be baptized or immersed in the Holy Spirit. He then goes on to teach them one of the benefits of receiving the Holy Spirit into their lives in verse eight. But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth. The word for receive in this verse indicates an outward or visible reception. The word for power is also translated mighty works or miracles in other verses. The ability to work miracles is a witness to the world of our belief in Jesus and his Father. That is part of walking in the anointing. On the day of Pentecost, Peter also made a reference to Joel, showing that the Father had fulfilled his promise of pouring out his spirit. Those gathered that day could not deny the unique moment where those twelve Galileans were speaking the wonderful works of God in multiple languages. God was advertising himself in a miraculous or phenomenal way. Something special had happened that morning, and Peter stood up in the power of the Holy Spirit and gave the first Christian sermon ever heard. He spoke of the resurrection and how God had made Jesus of Nazareth both Lord and Christ. By way of the anointing upon Peter, truths were revealed to bring thousands of people to God that day. You too can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit to enable you to be a powerful witness of God and his Son. But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you, but as the same anointing teacheth you all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. The anointing of the Holy Spirit empowers us to receive the truth and also impart the truth. Consider the ability Jesus taught his disciples in Matthew chapter ten, verses eighteen through twenty. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak, for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the spirit of your father which speaketh in you. The spirit does not take over your vocal cords, but as it was described on the day of Pentecost, the Spirit gives the utterance by way of inspiration. To gain greater understanding, let's trace that word inspiration to learn its original roots. The word initially appeared in Middle English to describe the immediate influence of God or holy inspiration. One way I think of this is by breaking the word into the phrase in spirit action. In the King James Version, there is only one time the word inspiration is used. It is translated from the Greek Theonustos, which literally means God breathed. In 2 Timothy 3.16, it tells us that all scripture was given by inspiration of God. God inspired his prophets to write down his word, and God will inspire you to speak his word. But walking in the anointing starts first with your meekness to God and a spiritual mindset. Your actions, the directions that you walk, all start with a thought. Romans chapter 8, verses 4 through 6. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk, not after the flesh, but after the spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the spirit, the things of the spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. We have a choice to walk after the flesh, which includes our soulish nature and our limited understanding. We have a choice to make, to think according to our five senses, or we can think according to the Spirit of God. Verse 6 shows the consequence of thinking carnally or according to the flesh. It is death. Not so good. But the blessing of being spiritually minded is life in peace. Tough choice. I've seen myself get physically ill by worrying. One day I was caught up in fear about a situation and it literally made me sick to my stomach. When I recognized what I was doing, being carnally minded, I changed my mind and became spiritually minded. I changed my thinking and the sickness went away. We are now anointed. We are endued with power from on high. But we must come into agreement with the Holy Spirit within us by keeping our minds turned away from the world and unto God. God has more to say about this subject, and we pick it up again in the book of Galatians, chapter 5, verses 16 and 17. This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. There are seventeen evil works mentioned in verses 19 through 21, referring to the flesh. They are indeed lusts of the flesh. On the contrary, our walk in the spirit is directed by the love of God that the Holy Spirit imparts into our hearts. Again, in contrast to the works of the flesh, we have the fruit of the Spirit. A while back I did a number of podcasts on fighting with fruit. The fruit of the Spirit can act as a weapon against our enemy, which is sometimes our flesh. We will not feed the flesh, the lust of the flesh, as we walk in the fruit of the Spirit. The Spirit of God gives us access to these spiritual fruit. We can receive these fruit into our lives as we believe the promises of God. Another aspect of walking in the anointing is the gifts or manifestations of the Spirit. First, we have the ability to speak in tongues which builds us up or edifies us. We see a little bit about that in Jude chapter one, verse 20. But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Praying in the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues. We become spiritually strong as we operate in these gifts or manifestations of the Spirit. Take some time and read First Corinthians chapter twelve through fourteen, and you will see what I call the tools of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit came into our lives and brought a toolbox and a fruit basket, and these blessings are ours as we walk in the anointing. Ephesians chapter three verse sixteen. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man. Walking in the anointing connects us to the resources of heaven. The anointing gives us access to what can be called spiritual senses. We can see in the spirit, we can hear in the spirit, we can taste in the spirit, we can touch in the spirit, we can smell in the spirit. Walking in the anointing takes us into the realm of the spiritual. You are not only human, you are a spiritual being endued with power. You have the anointing of God. Time to go for a walk. These two episodes will give you a broader understanding of the power available to you through this ability given to us by the anointing. The more time we spend in prayer in the Spirit and in meditating on Scripture, we will enjoy a closer walk with the Holy Spirit. We will be in a position to hear the Holy Spirit speak to us. The fruit of the Spirit will become evident to those around us. We will walk in love, we will walk in joy, we will walk in peace, we will be good and gentle, and the power of the Holy Spirit will also be evident by signs, miracles, and wonders. God is the God of all comfort. We are not alone, we are not powerless. God has fulfilled his promise of pouring out his spirit upon all flesh. Unfortunately, not everyone has believed they can receive this blessing and walked out in it. It's time for us to turn to the Lord and receive his fullness. We can walk in the anointing.
